Education Requirements

Salesperson Licensing Requirements

Salesperson: complete the 45-hour Salesperson Module 1 course and then the 45-hour Salesperson Module 2 course; ORProvide proof of a law degree within the five years preceding the date of application from an accredited law school together with proof of currently practicing law and proof of successful completion of the current fi nal exam for Module 2.

Broker Licensing Requirements

Broker: complete the courses required for a salesperson's license, and at least 90 hours of approved advanced broker education to include: 1) a Brokerage Management course; 2) a Real Estate Law course; 3) two elective courses in separate subject areas consisting of at least 20 classroom hours each. Approved topics include "Areas of Real Estate Specialization," "Alternative Real Estate Finance," "Real Estate Finance," "Real Estate Valuation & Analysis." OR National level courses consisting of at least 20 classroom hours and offered by a national institute may be accepted as satisfying one of the four courses if it does not duplicate the subject matter covered by any of the other three courses. OR Proof of successful completion of the REALTORS® Institute courses, in Idaho, together with proof of successful completion of the Brokerage Management course will satisfy the educational requirements for a broker's license. OR Provide proof of a law degree within the five years preceding the date of application from an accredited law school together with proof of currently practicing law and proof of successful completion of the Brokerage Management course. Proof of successful completion of Idaho's Business Conduct and Office Operations course within the last 5 years prior to applying for a broker's license.

Continuing Education Requirements

Salesperson & Broker

All individual licensees renewing a real estate license must have 16 hours of elective courses PLUS the Commission Core Course in order to obtain an active license. The COMMISSION CORE COURSE is a specific course developed by IREC each year on the 1st of July.

  1. Take a COMMISSION CORE COURSE
  2. challenge the COMMISSION CORE COURSE exam (here's how)
  3. review the COMMISSION CORE COURSE and then challenge the COMMISSION CORE COURSE exam
    • use VHS, DVD, CD, or audio cassettes or
    • view the Commission Continuing Education CORE Course online and challenge the exam
    • attend a live COMMISSION CORE COURSE

Take 16 ELECTIVE COURSE HOURS

  1. take another COMMISSION CORE COURSE! (It must be different from your first COMMISSION CORE COURSE.)
  2. take a Commission-approved live CE Elective course
  3. take a Commission-approved distance learning CE Elective course
  4. attend a Commission meeting (special teleconference meetings not included) ? 3 CE hours
  5. take a broker pre-license course or challenge a broker pre=license course final course exam
  6. take a national real estate professional designation course
  7. take a CE course approved by another state for real estate licensing in approved real estate topics
  8. take a course approved for other professional licensing (i.e. Appraisers, Law) in approved real estate topics

Reporting

STUDENT REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Within 5 working days after conclusion of each course of instruction, the provider shall submit to the Council or Commission an alphabetical list which shall include the names, addresses and social security numbers of the students completing the course of instruction, the name of the course, the name of the instructor, the number of hours included in the course, the date of the course and the location. The list shall be certified by the instructor from whom the students received instruction and an authorized representative of the provider.

CASE MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS

Upon the conclusion of each course, the provider shall collect written evaluations from students for the course and instructor using a evaluation form approved by the Commission: http://www.idahorealestatecommission.com/forms/ree013.pdf
