Education Requirements

Salesperson Licensing Requirements

Real Estate Salesperson's and Broker's licenses are issued for a term of two years. Your license must be renewed on or before the last day of the month in which it was issued. If the last day of the month falls on a weekend, you may renew on the following Monday. If that Monday is a legal holiday, you may renew on the following Tuesday.

Broker Licensing Requirements

Continuing Education Requirements

A license may be renewed in a timely manner by filing an application for renewal on a form provided by the commissioner, by paying the renewal fee specified in this chapter if that fee is paid on or before the expiration date of the license, and by presenting evidence of attendance at a school certified by the commissioner during the preceding license period of twenty-four clock-hours, or a lesser number of clock-hours prescribed by the commissioner, of real estate oriented continuing education courses prescribed and approved by the commissioner. If an applicant is renewing a license within one year after it expired, the applicant may apply continuing education hours completed after the expiration toward the continuing education required for renewal.

The 24 hours of approved continuing education must be completed every 2 years.

Of the 24 hours required for renewal, you must obtain three hours credit in each of the following subjects:

  1. Agency Law
  2. Contract Law
  3. Commissioner's Standards
  4. Real Estate Legal Issues
  5. Fair Housing
  6. Disclosure

The remaining six hours may be in any of these subjects or "general" courses.
