Iowa Real Estate Education Requirements

Salesperson prelicense education requirements: As required by Iowa Code section 543B.15(8) and 193E—Chapter 16, the required course of study for the salesperson licensing examination shall consist of 60 classroom or computer–based hours of real estate principles and practices. Passing this course qualifies you to site for the state licensing exam. The certificate for this course completion is good for one year. As of 1/1/09, within that year you take three 12-hour courses in a classroom setting and apply for your license. For the new requirements, visit the IREC website.
