This course introduces Ohio Civil Rights law. You will learn about the Fair Housing Act of 1968, which ensured that all Americans have the right to purchase, rent, or finance housing for themselves in the location of their choosing, regardless of their gender, religion, handicap, color, race, national origin or familial status. You will also learn about other anti-discrimination laws that directly affect the real estate industry and the financing of real estate. Upon completion of this course, you will understand the legislation, its purpose, and importance. You will also be familiar with the penalties for violating such statutes and have a better understanding of how you can avoid unethical discrimination in your everyday conduct.
This course introduces students to ethics in the real estate industry, enabling them to better understand the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Code of Ethics, its enforcement procedures, and practical use of the guidelines set forth therein. The specific ethics requirements of the State of Ohio are also covered. This course also discusses general ideas and theories to help apply the concept of ethical judgment, providing a background for a detailed discussion of professional real estate ethics that is framed in terms of the NAR Code of Ethics.
This course introduces the changes to Chapter 4735 of the Ohio Revised Code that went into effect on September 9, 2012, which apply to Real Estate licensees in the State of Ohio. The course will cover licensing requirements, continuing education, and classes of licenses. Additional topics include agency relationships, dual agency, and the fiduciary responsibilities that licensees have.

The Ohio Department of Commerce requires all licensees to complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years, with nine hours of mandatory course training. Ohio Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements
Thirty (30) hours of continuing education is due every three years from the licensee’s birth date. These credit hours include three state required courses in Ethics, Core Law, and Civil Rights, totaling nine of the 30 hours. The remaining 21 credit hours are student electives comprised of the Ohio Division of Real Estate-approved courses.
