Virginia State Home Inspector Regulations

Legislation: Code of Virginia 54.1-517.2. It goes into effect on July 1, 2003
Governing Body: Virginia Board for Asbestos, Lead and Home Inspectors
Definitions: This is a voluntary certification law. No person may call themselves a certified Virginia home inspector without meeting the requirements as set out by the board.

Qualifications for becoming a Certified Home Inspector

Education & Experience

• Complete 35 hours of education and perform 100 inspections
• Complete 70 hours of education and perform 50 inspections

Testing

• Pass the National Home Inspectors Exam
