West Virginia State Home Inspector Regulations

Legislation: HB 4192 Section 64-6-1 (c)
Governing Body: State Fire Commission
Definitions: Any person performing a home inspection in the State of West Virginia must be certified by the State Fire Commission.

Qualifications for becoming a Certified Home Inspector

Education or Experience & Insurance

• Pass the National Home Inspectors Examination
• Have proof of performing a home inspection business for three years prior to 08/01/06

• Have completed 80 hours of home inspection education
• Must show proof of $250,000 liability insurance
